Vector Graphics typically are generated using drawing or illustration programs such as Adobe Illustrator and are comprised of line segments whose length represents magnitude and whose orientation in space represents direction. Vector graphics usually are easily modified within the creating application and generally are not affected detrimentally by scaling and are typically are saved as EPS format. This makes vector graphics the best way to go when creating a design for your custom labels. Usually you will need to have vector art created by someone with Illustrator or a professional graphic designer. Then the vector artwork can be scaled up or down with out losing quality and would enable smooth transition regardless of the label size.
Rasterized Images are produced by either image developing software such as Adobe Photoshop or digital cameras or scanners. Raster images are composed of bitmap of digital picture elements, otherwise known as pixels or squares or rectangles that make up an image. Raster images typically are saved as TIFF, JPEG or even PSD files. These types of artwork can work in some instances when printing your custom label but in others they will not work.
It is very simple to convert from vector art to rasterized art but it is nearly impossible to go the other way without recreating a file completely. Our highly qualified art department can create a custom label design or even alter your current label artwork and can tell you if the file you have for your label artwork will work with the project you are trying to achieve.
